News 3 Las Vegas: Golden Gate Casino Replaces Human Dealers with Electronic Tables Amid Tourism Slump

News 3 Las Vegas reports that the historic Golden Gate Casino in downtown Las Vegas is phasing out human dealers in favor of electronic table games (ETGs). This move comes as headlines about a summer tourism slowdown in the city gain international attention, sparking debate about the role of automation in the gaming industry.

Industry veteran David Noll, who began his career at the Golden Gate in 1991, acknowledges the business advantages of ETGs but argues that the human element—interaction, atmosphere, and connection—remains irreplaceable. He believes that dealers are an integral part of the Las Vegas experience and worries about the long-term impact of replacing them.

Gaming experts, including UNLV’s Allen Feldman, note that many visitors actually prefer ETGs for their convenience, speed, and ease of play. While human dealers are not disappearing entirely, the Golden Gate joins several major casinos on the Las Vegas Strip in adopting this technology, signaling a shift in how casinos balance tradition with modernization.
