Las Vegas food vlogger Shin takes us inside CHI Asian Kitchen at The STRAT for his 160th restaurant review. Despite its unassuming exterior, CHI surprises with stylish decor, including a floating red dragon and vibrant artwork. Shin dives into the menu, highlighting its diverse mix of Asian cuisines, from Korean short ribs to Peking duck fried rice. He notes that the high-energy atmosphere adds to the dining experience, but ultimately, it’s all about the food.
Starting with appetizers, Shin samples the pork belly bao buns, charred green beans, and barbecue pork ribs. He praises the bao buns for their pillowy texture and flavorful pork, the green beans for their perfect cook and garlicky hoisin sauce, and the ribs for their well-seasoned meat and caramelized glaze. Moving on to entrées, he orders a “Panda combo” featuring orange chicken, Mongolian beef, honey walnut shrimp, duck fried rice, and beef chow fun. While the orange chicken and Mongolian beef fall a bit short, the duck fried rice and chow fun impress with their rich flavors and well-executed textures.
Shin concludes that CHI Asian Kitchen offers some standout dishes, particularly the fried rice and bao buns, though a few items could use improvement. With its stylish setting and broad menu, it’s a solid choice for those looking for Asian comfort food on the Las Vegas Strip. Whether it’s worth the price depends on what you order, but as Shin says, “Every restaurant is a buffet if you’re willing to pay!”
